That wasn’t happy Black Cats Fan

Ugh, someone help me here, why is it when we play clubs that Steve Bruce has been apart of, we lose? 1-0 loss to freaking WIGAN. I mean, they’re nothing. Sunderland is so above the Latics it’s a joke. I could understand losing to them last year, because at his worst Steve Bruce is still better than any manager Sunderland has had since Bob Stokoe. (And I’m not meaning the second tenure).
Though coming off an international break, and a big win it could be expected with an improving team like that, a sloppy game will happen every now and then. However, it still doesn’t excuse losing. I know Sunderland isn’t Man U, but still there are games that you need to win, and this was one of them.
How the Team lined up:
SAFC: Fulop, Bardsley, McCartney, Turner, Da Silva, Reid, Malbranque, Cana (C), Henderson, Richardson, Bent.
Subs: Ferdinand, Nosworthy, Zenden, Fraizer, Mensah, Healy, Carson.
Wigan: Kirkland, Thomas, Scharner, Scotland, N’Zogbia, Boyce, Bramble, Rodallega, Melchiot, Diame, Figuroa.
Subs: Cho, Amaya, Koumas,Gomez, Sinclair, McCarthy, Pollitt.
From Steve Bruce on SAFC TV
“It’s very difficult to put it into words sometimes. We didn’t look a shadow of the team we were last week, that’s for sure. It’s inconsistency.
It looked for me as if 0-0 was written all over it, but we deserved what we got after coming here and putting in a performance like that.
We haven’t performed and you can’t play like that away from home in the Premier League. We have to be better. The stats and all the rest of it don’t lie.
The one thing we’ll have to try and do is take away this inconsistency and start turning up away from home, because it isn’t the same team we’re seeing when you look at games like Arsenal.
That’s the disappointing thing – the up and down. Even then, though, we should have had enough about us to take a point away from here even though we’ve not played well.
Maybe it’s mentality, they’ve got to change that or we’ll have to change something quick.
We didn’t cause a threat in the first half so I changed it at half time, but no matter what system or tactics you play, the first thing we have to do it turn up.”
The club has to get their minds right really fast because next weekend is Fulham, and that’s a well run, well coached team. They are who I think Sunderland should strive to be right now. It would be great to have the chance to be in Europe right now, but thing at a time.
