By: Lucas | January 13th, 2008Kieran Richardson scored twice during nine minutes of the first half and Sunderland AFC picked up a very big 3 points at the Stadium of Light today, defeating Portsmouth 2-0. That gives Richardson 3 goals for the season, all since returning from injury less than three weeks ago. This is Craig Gordon’s second clean sheet for the Black Cats.
Paul McShane was shown the bench in favor of new loanee Jonny Evans, and Stokes started up front with Kenwyne and Daryl Murphy.

That’s a weird comment … anyway, nice win for Sunderland. Hopefully they can keep their heads above water and stay out of the two spots that will accompany Derby back into the Championship.

If you play with this much heart in each game I wouldn’t think you would get relegated.
The Sunderland fans were brilliant today, they really lifted the players.

Great three points! My support for Sunderland is matched by my disdain for Redknapp and Portsmouth. So really, a double victory in my eyes.
Derby, Bolton, and Wigan will go down.
