Keano Steps down just before Red’s Game
By: Stephen | December 4th, 2008All that fire and passion, that made Roy Keane one of the best middies in the game, may have gotten to him. He was just too proud to see his team fall down. Oh and that little thing about playing his former club and his mentor, might be too much. It’s sad, because Keane did amazing things for the Black Cats, bringing them up, and keeping them up.

Could the Black Cats have shown anything at the weekend against Manchester United? Probably not, but this is football, anything is possible. Heck Hull has beaten most of London. However, going to Old Trafford is a daunting task for a lot of teams.
Where do the Black Cats go? The typical names will pop out, like ex-Chelsea Boss Avram Grant, ex-Bolton, Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce, or ex-Hammers boss Alan Curbishly. Where would I go if I was Niall Quinn?
Alan Curbishly. That’s right, he seems to do very well at clubs with lesser budgets, well save for West Ham sliding down, but that wasn’t his fault. Stupid injuries. But chances are with Niall he’s going to promote someone the fans don’t know about. Oh well, it’s his club, he can do with it what he wants. Or he can let Ricky Sbragia, the caretaker manager for the game at the weekend, take the club the rest of the year. Heck, if the Black Cats win, Sbragia could have the post for life.

Although Curbishley’s tenure at West Ham impressed me, I doubt his motivational abilities and his ability to take a team to “the next level” aka top half finishes. Also, it seems to me that he blew a lot of money down at West Ham. Niall Quinn has shown that he can throw the bucks around, and I feel we need a smart buyer. My man has got to be Big Sam. He’s a proven premier league manager, and with Bolton he consistently finished in the top 8 top 6 spots year in year out. He’s an excellent man manager and people hate on him merely because of his half-failure at newcastle. I think he’s definetely the man for the job and can make an immediate lasting impact.

Also, whoever runs this blog should post more on it, I’d dig that. The articles are good.

i’m no fan of Roy Keane but it’s sad that such pressure is put on young, bright managers .. i really thought Keane would be a survivor ..
