MATCH DAY – HULL CITY

Welcome to the best day of the week. The Black Cats are playing at Hull City today! I’m ready for a huge win!

Sunderland : Fulop, Colgan, Bardsley, Nosworthy, Ferdinand, Collins, Chimbonda, Edwards, Leadbitter, Malbranque, Reid, Richardson, Tainio, Whitehead, Yorke, Cisse, Jones, Healy, Murphy.

Hull City: Myhill, Ashbee, Turner, Garcia, Mendy, Boateng, Ricketts, Zayatte, Barmby, Geovanni, King. Subs: Duke, Doyle, Windass, Halmosi, Marney, Cousin, Stelios.

A little over 2k people traveled to Hull for the game. Good job supporters.

That’s the team Super Ricky has put out for the match. Can we burst the bubble of Hull? I hope so. The good thing about this match is that I can get it live! Good ole Setanta US!

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLl great angle on the shot. I’m glad to see Steed get the goal! It’s his first for the club! Hull 0 Sunderland 1 Collins goes past Mendy down the left and squares it Malbranque on the edge of the area. He takes a touch and smashes a shot into the top corner. (11 minutes in).

Great, just as that goal went in, the tv player I was watching it on went kaput. Oh well, thank god for SAFC.com

And just to add insult to injury Hull scores. 19 minutes in Hull 1 Sunderland 1 Hull score after a scramble in the box. Sunderland fail to clear a long ball from the keeper, Fulop saves Turner’s shot but Barmby is there to fire in the rebound.

Damnit. Sorry for the colorful language, I don’t like conceding goals. Fulop has been ace in Craig Gordon’s absence, but like all the top goalies he will let in a goal or two. Hopefully there aren’t anymore goals to let in.

I think we all share things here, and to take you behind the blog, I’ve just started my fandom of Sunderland. My second team is gasp, a big four team. Like anything people get disenfranchised with the big clubs, so when I was in the bookstore (something that’s a very common occurrence in my life) I picked up Jonathan Wilson’s: Sunderland a Club Transformed, and fell in love with the club, it’s supporters, and the back room staff.

So you all have a born again Sunderland AFC fan! Now, I know the long time supporters don’t like newbies, but I’m willing to take my lumps for a club that is so loved.

First half observations? Well, its been a very up and down game, I just wish that the Black Cats would put this away like they did last week. But to be fair Hull is much better than WBA. Cisse and Jones have been very active today. Which, not to state the obvious is very good! Hopefully they can poke in one or two goals each. We need the freaking points. And the board needs to make Cisse’s loan a permanent one.

Too bad Newcrapstle isn’t playing today, I so want to see them lose. They are playing Spurs, hmmmm another team I can’t stand. Boy I do have some hatred against the teams in the Prem. Maybe that’s something I have to look into.

End of the 1st Half. It was a biopolar half, the Black Cats started out very well, getting a goal, then losing their footing. They only let in one goal, which stunk. Hopefully Ricky can get the team going for the second half.

Second Half!

And we’re back from the changing rooms. Ricky hasn’t made any changes going into the second half. Let’s see if his words of wisdom have inspired the team on! i’m already sick of Bernard Mendy from Hull. He’s all over the place.

What it looks like is that neither team can keep the possession long enough. Ugh. Boring (Homer Simpson’s voice just popped into my head on that one). We need more quality possessions if we are to get the three points.

And finally we have the official attendance for the match today : 24,917. Pretty decent turnout for the match. While it may not be the best played match, it’s sure going to be a nail-bitter.

I’m not liking in the first 10-15 minutes of this half the lack of scoring chances created. I see on the match chat, there’s only about three. There should be at least two more, one shot per 2 minute stretch for me.

I really like the pairing of Kenwyne Jones and Cisse, they seem to work together well up at the top. I just wish, they’d get another GOAL TODAY. Sorry for the shouting, I like goals.

I love how Jones can get sandwiched, fall to the ground, in the penalty area and not get a call, but if you do that to a ManU player you get thrown out the game. Double standards stink.

Hmmm, Ricky still hasn’t made any changes, strange. Oh well, there’s a reason he’s the manager, and I’m the blogger.

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! Ok that yelling scared the cat I have, and yes it’s black. 77minutes in Hull 1 Sunderland 2 Captain Kieran Richardson’s left-foot shot from 20 yards hits Zayatte, changes direction ad goes into the bottom corner. Too bad it’s an own goal for Hull, but still 2-1. That rocks.

YAY, here we go three points! (I know, I’m jumping the gun on that one.)

GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok now this is really cool! Hull 1 Sunderland 3 Malbranque shows great skill to go past Halmosi and he picks out Jones who heads past Myhill. (85 minutes in) A goal for Kenwyne Jones. Yes I’m happy. Three points here we come! 3-1 good guys

Not to sound so conceded here, but since I’ve been writing the Sunderland Blog for the Offsides, the Black Cats have been playing very well!
