Naughty, naughty

leadbitter_choke_boro_bbc.jpg This is a picture (courtesy BBC) of players losing their tempers (at Boro a couple weeks ago). Tsk, tsk, boys, this is no way for grown men to behave. Professional athletes are supposed to be role models, right? Well apparently so, in this case. Last Sunday Evertonians and Geordies were brawling in the Newcastle train station after their teams’ fixture at St. James, when the Mackems arrived from London (surly from a bitter 3-2 loss). Thus started a three-way “fracas” (this is the actual word used by the police spokeswoman), which thankfully ended with no major injuries or property damage.

I understand that supporters get keyed up, angry over their team’s loss, bitter over rivalries, etc. But I prefer to channel my post-match passion into attacking pints and shots, not other fans. Plus I don’t want to damage one of my few remaining assets: my pretty face.
