New Blood
By: Lucas | January 24th, 2008Two new signings to report, both of whom have raised optimism amongst the Red & White:
- No surprise that our third acquisition of the January transfer period comes to Sunderland from Manchester United. Roy Keane has signed defender Phil Bardsley for £2 million, and the 22-yr old, who played with Keano at Man Utd, is excited at the opportunity: “At Man United [Keane] always got the best out of you in training and games. I’m sure he can get the best out of me as a manager.”
- Addressing the need to give Kenwyne Jones some help up front, Keane has brought in Swedish striker Rade Prica. Prica, who cost SAFC £2m, comes from Aalborg BK in the Danish Superliga, and he led that league in goals last season. He also comes with a reputation as a bit of a hard player, and is already talking like a tough guy: “The game is more rough here, like football should be played. I think the real football is played here in England… I know that it hurts people to play against me.” Hopefully Birmingham defenders are the first ones hurt as Sunderland continue their struggle for survival next Tuesday at the Stadium of Light.
