SAFC TV Steve Bruce Interview
0,,10281~8591843,00
“Arsenal are a fantastic team with a wonderful stadium and support,” he said. “Let’s be fair; they’re not just one of the biggest clubs in England, they’re one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

“To go there and get something is always a great achievement if you can do it. Can we go there and do the double over them. It would be quite incredible, but bearing in mind how the season’s gone so far, why not? Could it be the turning point of our season?

“It will be mightily difficult, but as long as we turn up and have a good crack at them like we did at home, we might just be able to get the result we all need.”

Bruce added: “The one thing we have to do is perform and play well. Big teams have brought the best out of us. We let ourselves down at Chelsea, we know that, but if we play well on the day we know we are capable of causing an upset.

“We beat them up here, why can’t we do it again?”

Bruce has also revealed he won’t be favouring a defensive outlook and rejected any notion of parking the proverbial bus on the goal-line.

Instead he has urged his team to “have a go” and use their attacking assets – with 16-goal striker Darren Bent and the imposing Kenwyne Jones as dual spearheads.

“The way my team’s lined up, I don’t think I could send them out to [sit back],” Bruce said. “Defending has been our big problem as a team and our main strength is our attacking threat.

“We have to have a go and cause them a problem if we can. After all, attack in the best form of defence in a lot of people’s eyes.”

It helps of course that Arsenal look so very fragile at the back. Might as well have a go, you are likely to score!
