Stolen Points
By: Lucas | December 15th, 20071-1 draw vs Villa.
I’ll have more thoughts up later after I get back from shopping for a Nintento Wii (yes!). For now I’ll let Roy Keane tell you what he thinks about Danny Collins‘ disallowed goal at the death, and the 2 points stolen from us by referee Steve Bennett in front of 43,000 Mackem faithful at the SOL.
It was a good header and a goal, I don’t know why the referee has disallowed it. I don’t know what it’s for, I’m sure he’ll come up with something. It’s frustrating, I don’t think I will cool down until Tuesday or Wednesday.
The players and supporters deserve better. I always try to be fair to referees but I don’t know why he has given the foul. We’re talking about the referee when we should be talking about two good teams who had a good go at each other. It was a good Premier League game.
He was ready to give the foul even before anyone went near anyone else. Sunderland fans deserve better. It’s the most frustrated I’ve been as a manager. It was a good, honest game. Villa are a good team but we hung in there and defended well against lots and lots of crosses.
We gave a sloppy goal away. But I always felt that we would nick it at the end and we did.
