Stupid Red Devils, Stupid Bar Codes.
By: Stephen | December 6th, 2008I’m fortunate, as an American, that the channels here believe that all us football fans love Manchester United. I didn’t have to spend countless hours finding the game, or traveling to pubs just to find it. Nopes, it was right on my dial.
Ah the good ole Fox Soccer. They should just rename themselves “Manchester TV” But I digress. Watching a Black Cat game in snowy Buffalo New York is fun!
Ten Minutes before kick off, and I’m thinking that some how, we’re going to get screwed out of the game. Maybe it’s because Manchester United has been paying off refs for years? (note, this is sarcasm, I do not have any evidence of the such, but I’m skeptical).
Austin, the reader who commented on my last (and first blog on here), thanks for the kind words about my writing. You’ll see a lot of blogs from me. I’m not going to post everyday, but at least three times a week, I’ll provide something new for fellow Sunderland fans. As far as recommending Curbs as the new gaffer, I was just going on the fact he’s worked so long and so well at teams of this stature. I know the popular figure is Big Sam, but I don’t want someone who was associated with Newcastle.
GAME KICK OFF!
And right off the bat, Fox Soccer is showing us adverts for Manchester United shop. Ugggh.
A stiff wind and these ManU players fall down. Stupid diving.
One of the things that the Black Cats need is training on passing. In the first 10 minutes, it was like they were passing to Man U. Or when they would get it over the mid line, they’d take long lazy shots. Frustrating.
Oh and as a side note, those stupid bar codes tied against Stoke 2-2. Haha, they couldn’t beat Stoke.
The shot selection of Sunderland is abysmal, it’s like they are just content with getting it in the penalty area. If they are to score, they need to go in with some purpose. Whoever are the commentators, are awful, they are spending more time telling us how bad we are.
First Half, over, now onto the second half. Hmm, this was one of those half’s that you can live with, if you are Ricky Sbragia. Nothing was gained, nothing was lost.
Second Half
Of course, in the second half, it’s more the same. However, if you think about it as a Black Cat fan, Manchester United hasn’t struck lucky on any of their shots, so it’s a win win for Sunderland. Oh no, Carlos Tevez is on, the commentators will be in love. I’m not someone who likes to see injuries in games, but some occasional discomfort for an opposing player, on the other hand is quite good.
At the hour mark, 0-0, I’ll take that! And with Andy Reid taking out Christiano Ronaldo, the tide could turn back to the Black Cats.
It’s been a sloppy second half, typical of this game, but Sunderland has made some attacks in the latter part of the half. So maybe just maybe, as we are going towards the end with Carlos Edwards and Kenwyne Jones on, there could be a goal!
Ok, when I said, there could be a goal, I didn’t mean Nemanja Vidić off of a rebound to an OPEN NET. Ugh, 1-0 90+1 minutes in. Sunderland played their hearts out, and still lost. This hurt, and will for a long time. Marton Fulop fell over trying to get the save, and couldn’t get back up.
MOTM = Teemu Tainio.
Oh well, onto training.

true you would be gutted but, i cant exactly agreee with “sunderland played their hearts out and still lost” because they had no intentions what so ever to even go forward and attack and attack they virtually stuck all 10 men in the box for the whole match so man utd could get nothing, at 1 point the possesion was 91% – 9% and all that lack of intent to attack eventually cost them.
