Sunderland 0 Manchester United 1 – plenty of hard graft

By: Allan | May 4th, 2010

There was lots of genuine endeavour in Sunday’s performance, but there’s still a notable gap between the top two and the rest. Steed had another fine game along with both Henderson and Meyler. Indeed, let’s hope David’s injury is not serious, but it looked a sore one from my position at the other end of the ground. Here’s hoping the manager can work his magic during the summer, and close the gap a little more with a couple of quality additions.
The gulf exists, not just because the big two have better players, but also because both have developed a style of play due to regular European competition. They can move the ball from back to front at lightening speed – sucking the opposition onto the front foot and then breaking in quickly behind. It’s not just having players with natural ability and pace; it’s having players with an enough intellect to know when to attack and when to defend. Scholes and Rooney delivered a master class in both midfield and front play respectively; their ball retention and distribution was immaculate. However, if Rooney was the Roy of the Rovers centre forward, Berbatrov must be the laziest player in the Premiership. If any of the sitters he missed had fallen to Darren Bent, surely DB would have bagged a hat-trick. His inability to lead the line whilst Rooney was out injured looks like being the deciding factor in the championship race. Given his aversion to working off the ball, it’s hard to see Sir Alex retaining the Bulgarian’s services during the summer. If the England coach has any sense, surely DB is Wayne’s natural partner for South Africa.
Finally, it was also nice to see Johnny Evans getting a good reception from the fans on Sunday – a reward for sterling service during both his loan spells. As for Michael Carrick, it was also nice to see him getting a reception befitting his Wallsend roots!

I get a lot of compliments on it, and six months later I even now feel WOW after i seem at it. Bubble gum pink lining, cell phone pocket, PDA/misc pocket, zip pocket on the different side.
