The Season Draws Nigh

• Keane confirms his interest in Ahmed Hossam Hussein Abdelhamid, known to football fans as Egypt and Spurs striker Mido.
• Ireland is a hotbed of Sunderland support, much to the chagrin of some Eircom stalwarts.
• Craig Gordon is still a possible addition to the Black Cats squad, as both SAFC and Aston Villa are now closely linked with the Hearts’ keeper.
• The team is now officially done with their pre-season schedule, after Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Juventus at the SOL. Next up: Spurs on Saturday to open the Premier League season.

Do you think Whitehead is a worthy fantasy pick? I think he’ll play all the time and see alot of the ball, maybe getting some goals too. He could be as productive as much higher priced options. Whaddya think?

@JT - I have the maximum three Sunderlanders on my squad, mostly for loyalty’s sake (though I think Carlos Edwards is poised for a great season). Not Whitehead at the moment, but with Edwards looking unlikely to play this weekend, I may make the swap. He certainly will get loads of playing time.
