West Brom Match

By: Stephen | December 13th, 2008

Welcome to the West Brom Match report. I’ve not been able to find an English language verison of the game, so ESPN Soccernet gets my endorsement today. So excuse me if this isn’t as long or descriptive as the last one was.

Most of the time when I watch the live match report on ESPN, it’s usually done by someone who hates both teams and tells you that. Or they are hawking another game. Gee, sounds like most media outlets.

Goal! Sunderland 1, West Bromwich Albion 0. Kenwyne Jones It’s fun to have a goal that early in the match. (22 minutes in). As you can remember from my last match day blog, I was predicting in the end that he’d score. Wait a second.

Goal! Sunderland 2, West Bromwich Albion 0. Kenwyne Jones Wow, two in a minute. Since when did we become Barca? Or is it that West Brom is that damn bad? I want to stay with the earlier, but chances are West Brom is just awful.

Wow, talk about a fast paced three minutes there, as a Sunderland fan, this is fun! Now if we could do this against the “big” clubs, I’d be happy. I figure if Hull can beat Arsenal, why can’t we? Or couldn’t we go to Anfield and put two goals up on Liverpool? (note, when I’m writing this Liverpool is tied with Hull).

Isn’t Niall Quinn God?

Can Kenwyne Jones go for a hat trick in the first half? Oh please, let is be so!

Ok, not Jones, but Goal! Sunderland 3, West Bromwich Albion 0. Andy Reid (Sunderland) header from very close range to the bottom right corner.

Sweet! Up 3-0 after 40 minutes! I’d bet the West Brom fans are leaving faster than they wanted to. If you remember my match preview, I said 2-0, boy I’m glad I’m wrong. The gaffer has to guard against complacency.

But I’d be happy if the Black Cats go for more goals! While, I don’t like to crush opponents, but Sunderland needs to score as much as possible, so we can pick up the three points.

Half over with!

Good way to start a match. I’d think Ricky Sbragia is giving them a pat on the back, and telling them to keep up the good work. Hopefully, the physio’s are giving the lads some good tea!

2nd half

For the second half, I have switched from ESPN, to SAFC.com, and their match center. (I’ll always Americanize words, because I’m an American).

46 minutes in, GOAL!!!! Cisse blasts one past Carson!!!!!!!!! Wow, we might get six today.

By the way, Arsenal couldn’t beat Borro today, (tied 1-1) that made me very happy. I really don’t like Arsenal and their fans. Though I suspect they wouldn’t care what a Black Cats fan liked. After all, they can’t beat Hull.

Random thought, isn’t it fun to be on the other side of a butt whopping? It sure is for this blogger, definitely making blogging easier. Though, this win would still keep us in the relegation zone, but it gets us much closer to getting out of it.

The alarming thing from reading the match commentary is that West Brom is having chances at our goal. Not good folks. Maybe we do need a new RB, and some new CB’s.

The attendance is 36,280 at the Stadium of Light.

What a wonderful shot! This match is about to go final, and lemme say, it was fun to be on the correct end of 4 goals. Marton Fulop the man of the moment for me, kept a clean sheet. For a backup keeper, he’s really exerting himself out there.

MAN OF THE MATCH Kenwyne Jones – 2 goals in the first half!!!!!!

“The Black Cats score four goals at home for the first time in nearly two years – and keep their first clean sheet since October.” Nick Alexander from safc.com.
