YAY we beat Hull! I’m being sarcastic!
By: Stephen | September 12th, 2009Black Cats win 4-1 over Hull City! Let’s all go down to the pub and celebrate. If you sense my sarcasm, then you are right. We should be beating teams like this, Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton, and Barnsley. It’s when we make the step up and beat teams like Aston Villa, and Arsenal that I’ll start getting happy. Of course Darren Bent is going to score against Hull, he’s a top striker.

And once again I only report the scorers for Sunderland, because that’s all that maters.

“Kieran Richardson had a wonderful pre-season so that’s why he started, but Andy’s been knocking on the door and he stuck at it.
“He is about half the man he was last season and you could see through his quality today that he’s getting so much benefit from it.”
The game looked tight at half time after Hull came back into the game, but a quick start to the second half turned the game decisively back in Sunderland’s favour.
“We were sloppy just before half-time and conceded a goal from a corner which is an Achilles heel for us,” Bruce added.
“But in the second half we took the ball better and controlled the game more – the goals came at the right time for us.
“I’m delighted for the fans and they will have something to shout about tonight. But we’re not getting carried away just yet.”

I was at the Hull game and yes, whilst they are a weaker opposition, they played very well in the first half and tried to punish us for sitting back (which we always seem to do when we score?!). Whilst i’m not jumping for joy over beating them, i think the lads deserve a bit more credit than you’re giving them. Cattermole didn’t stop running for 90 mins and Bent was top class.
